This presentation explores in detail the aims of the recast Dublin Regulation and whether the aims have been effectively implemented for both Member States and applicants seeking international protection. The presentation points to certain challenges addressed in the Dublin Regulation procedure and whether the recast Dublin Regulation has led to enhanced efficiency in matters related to international protection such as the deadlines for applications and the transfer of persons to the responsible Member State. Issues such as the interests of the child and the family unit are discussed in detail with reference to the improved quality and remaining difficulties under the recast Dublin Regulation. The presentation concludes with an outlook on the challenges that the recast Dublin Regulation still faces and the future issues that will have to be addressed.
